Slowing down my practice and painting small. I love painting big but it’s been so refreshing to work on something with less intensity. It feels so gentle to sit down and just work on a little piece that fits in the palm of my hand. I’m definitely an artist who benefits from diversifying my practice to keep it fresh and sustainable. (And I usually have to learn that the hard way. 🫣)

This is one of my favorite things to do after I finish some paintings🫶 Taking images of my work in an environment that matches their vibe helps give the viewer a more complete picture of what the pieces are about and how they look in life. I love it! On another note, I’m so heartbroken for all those struggling in my state from this disaster. But the solidarity from everyone makes me so proud to be a North Carolinian. I’ve been thinking a lot about Psalms because of the book’s reminder to lament and grieve while it carries us to a place of comfort and trust. I’m praying for everyone who has been affected by these past storms. 💛
I think I was subconsciously thinking of George Strait’s song “The Chill of an Early Fall” when painting this one. Swipe for a throwback to my brother and I at our first George concert 😂 he was a real staple in our household. &

‘The Narrows’ is based on a lil spot in the marsh in Carteret County, NC. This painting almost didn’t make it into the collection because of my own criticism but I’m really glad it did since a lot of people have told me it’s their favorite! This was one of the first vertical landscapes I’ve done and won’t be the last!! The big sky allowed me to really capture the feeling of dusk. It has the warmth of the sun as well as the stars and moon falling down on the scene. Available on my website! 🌞🌟

Hi again! After taking some time (almost two years!!), I’m returning with some new work that I’m so excited to share! I took an intentional break to focus my efforts on finishing my BA in Studio Art at Meredith College. As of Saturday, I’m officially an alumni (woo!) and am excited to move into this new season of life and making art. During my final semester at Meredith, I participated in a group exhibition with my fellow studio art grads. I created three different collections for this show that I love so much. Everything from the materials to the concepts feels so aligned with my current practice and aesthetic. The Study Abroad Collection features 6 works that combine my recent obsession with using washes of acrylic and oils on canvas. The pieces are blurred memories from my time in Italy studying abroad. The Giving Game series is comprised of two oil paintings on wood panel based on the enneagram type 2. I connect the idea of cultivating a personal identity with the visual of cultivating plants in a greenhouse. Inherited From You is a two part series that was originally an installation. Pulling from my roots in southern NC, I share the aspect of female led hospitality and camaraderie seen in the passing of recipes.
